Barcelona Will Lose Jules Kunde In Second Leg Of Champions League Semifinals
JAKARTA - Barcelona have confirmed that defender Jules Kunde suffered a hamstring injury in a 3-3 draw in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, Thursday, May 1, 2025, against Inter Milan.
Konde is expected to miss the second leg at Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Kounde, 26 years old, also doubted appearing in El Clasico against Real Madrid on May 11, 2025. At least, according to ESPN reports, the French player is expected to be out for two weeks.
He can return in late May 2025 for the league's final ahead of a possible Champions League final against Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain on May 31, 2025 if Barcelona beat Inter in the second leg.
Until La Liga's last week win over Mallorca, when he was rested, Kounde has made 86 appearances in a row for Barcelona since the last missed the game.
The former Sevilla player will now miss several more games after suffering a hamstring injury before the break against Inter. Eric Garcia will be plotted to replace him at the right back.
Garcia is likely to replace him in his absence, but Ronald Araujo has also played as a full-back before and young Hector Fort could also be an option.
Barcelona is also not reinforced by left-back Alejandro Balde, who has missed the last five games due to a hamstring injury.
However, with striker Robert Lewandowski, Balde is trying hard to be able to appear against Inter next week.
"We hope so. Maybe they can play. We have to wait," Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said on Thursday, May 1, 2025, when asked if the two would return for the second leg.
Meanwhile, the Blaugrana will also travel to Real Valladolid in La Liga this weekend before the match against Inter with the aim of maintaining their four-point lead at the top of La Liga.
