Slank Once Implemented Direct License Before Joining LMK
JAKARTA - The term direct license, which has recently been discussed in the industry, was apparently done by Slank in the early 2000s, when Law No. 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright (UU Hak Cipta) had not yet taken effect.
Currently, Slank personnel choose to entrust their royalty management to the Collective Management Institute (LMK). They are members of Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI).
However, before the existence of WAMI, said Bimbim, Slank applied direct license for his songs brought back by other singers.
"Before WAMI, Slank direct (license)," said Bimbim to the media crew at the Slank Headquarters located in Duren Tiga, South Jakarta some time ago.
"So, which TV (phone) 'Mas Bimbim, is there an artist who wants to play the song Slank, can't you?' Then we'll see, the artist, cool (whether) or not, beautiful girls, 'Oh okay,' he continued.

At that time, Slank did not apply a special price for other musicians who wanted to perform his song. However, direct permission is considered important.
"In the past, we didn't think about the payment, how much they want to pay, it's up to them. Yes, the important thing is the permit," said Kaka.
Furthermore, Kaka feels that if the direct license system is considered promising for Indonesian musicians, it would be better if the system was ratified and regulated in law.
"If the direct license is promising, just enter it into the law. Finally, we have a lot of options, right? Or where can we put it. I can also put it in LMK, I can also put it on direct, "concluded Kaka.
