Response To Dedi Mulyadi's Proposal Regarding Stubborn Students Entering Barak, TNI Working On The State Defense Program

Head of the Army Information Service Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana said the cooperation between the Indonesian Army and the West Java Provincial Government (West Java Provincial Government) regarding children's development was a program called Character Education, Discipline, and Special State Defense.

He explained that the specificity is intended for children who have special criteria as explained by the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi.

The program was carried out in two places, namely at Dodik Bela Negara Rindam III/Siliwangi in Bandung, and at the Medan Artillery Regiment Headquarters (Menarmed) 1 Kostrad in Purwakarta.

"Both of them were launched simultaneously today, coinciding with the commemoration of National Education Day 2025," Wahyu said in Jakarta, Friday.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi revealed that the children who will take part in the program are children who often join brawls, consume alcoholic drinks, and children who are addicted to online games.

Wahyu said that the purpose of character education is to foster the nation's generation consisting of junior high and high school or equivalent students who have personality problems or deviant behavior, who deal with criminal acts.

He said the program was targeted to restore and reshape the character of the students so that they are in the correct corridor. The program's implementation time will be adjusted to the level of need and target to be achieved according to the classification.

According to him, education in the formation of character and discipline is not a form of military education or military-style education. Even though it is carried out in military dormitories, education prioritizes personal and group approaches through guidance and care.

He conveyed that the educational materials provided were commonly given materials such as learning in the classroom normally, ranging from guidance and counseling or counseling, line training in line, discipline, motivation, counseling on national insight, defending the country, counseling on the dangers of drugs, even group game materials, to outbonds.

"The students participating in character education are also students who are registered by their parents themselves and signed a written agreement that their children are willing to undergo voluntary education in the formation of these characters," he said.

He said that the number of participants undergoing education in Rindam III/Siliwangi was around 80 students. Meanwhile, 40 students underwent education at the Armed 1 Regiment in Purwakarta were registered.

"Education workers come from elements of the TNI AD, Polri, education office, health office, Child Protection Agency (LPA) and educators according to their respective fields," he said.
