DKI Provincial Government Frees 488 Student Diplomas, Value Reaches IDR 1.69 Billion

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has released 488 student diplomas that have been detained by the school because they are still in arrears in tuition fees until graduation. This diploma has been carried out in two stages.

The first stage of bleaching the diploma was carried out on 117 students some time ago. Today, the second phase of diploma redeeming for 371 students coincided with the 2025 National Education Day (Hardiknas) commemoration ceremony.

"A total of 488 students have received a diploma bleaching program worth Rp1.69 billion. Hopefully this will be useful for students whose diplomas have been withheld so far," said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, May 2.

Pramono said that the redeeming of this diploma was one of the programs outlined from his campaign promise during the 2024 Pilkada. Pramono sees that until now there are still many young people who cannot work because their diplomas are still being held at school.

"Earlier I asked them, some of whose diplomas were held for three years to five years because they had not paid the fees. In essence, this diploma was not taken because they could not afford it," said Pramono.

In this program, the DKI Jakarta Education Office cooperates with Baznas Bazis Bazis DKI Jakarta to distribute assistance for the cost of redeeming diplomas. The plan is for the release of diplomas to total 6,652 students this year.

"The government must be present in handling the problem so that students can immediately get a diploma that is very much needed for their future," said Pramono.

On that occasion, Pramono invited all parties to make Hardiknas a momentum to increase their commitment to educating the nation's life and ensuring that there is no discrimination in educational services.

"According to the constitutional mandate, there should be no discrimination on the basis of religion, physical, ethnicity, language, economy, gender, domicile, and other causes that cause a person to lose the opportunity to get education," he added.
