The Minister Of Public Works Targets The Construction Of People's Schools In 65 Locations To Be Performed In The Third Week Of May 2025

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) targets that the construction work of the People's School in 65 locations will be carried out in the third week of May 2025.

The technical planning documents for the construction work of the People's School have been completed in the fourth week of April 2025.

"Skolah Rakyat Phase 1 as many as 65 locations have been completed, the technical planning documents have been compiled in the fourth week of April 2025 and are targeted to start construction in the third week of May 2025," said Dody as quoted from his written statement, Friday, May 2.

In its implementation, the handling of the Phase 1 People's School in 65 locations will use model 1 methods with a scope of activities including rehabilitation/renovation of existing buildings belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), universities, local governments, SOEs and the private sector.

"Currently, there has been a Decree of the Minister of Public Works (Kepmen PU) regarding the determination of 65 locations for Phase 1 People's Schools and is currently preparing for the procurement of construction service providers and consulting service providers," he said.

To note, the People's School Program is designed as an effort by the government to expand access to education for poor and extreme poor families, especially those in Desil 1.

In addition to the implementation at these 65 points, the government is also preparing the construction of People's Schools at 200 additional points which are currently in the survey process by the Ministry of Public Works. These locations are prioritized in areas that have a high poverty rate and land readiness.
