Bogor City Government Ordered Incomplete Angkot Letter, Dozens Acted

BOGOR Bogor City Government (Pemkot) continues to intensify efforts to control city transportation (angkot) that are not in administrative order. Through the Transportation Service (Dishub) and assisted by the Bogor City Police Traffic Unit, joint operations were carried out in the Jalan Ir H Juanda area.

The operation was led directly by the Deputy Mayor of Bogor, Jenal Mutaqin. During the operation, dozens of public transportation officers were prosecuted because the driver could not show the completeness of vehicle documents, such as KIR tests, Vehicle Registration Certificates (STNK), and Driving Permits (SIM).

In one month we have taken action and control three times. Today there are several angkots whose letters have expired, even their conditions are outdated. We have detained the car and the driver is directed to report his cooperative legal entity to take care of the Dishub office," said Jenal Mutaqin in his statement to the media crew.

This control is part of the Bogor City Government's ongoing efforts to improve traffic order and safety in urban areas. According to Jenal, drivers who cannot show complete vehicle documents are asked to resolve their administrative problems through official channels.

However, he appreciated the cooperative attitude of the drivers during the operation. They admitted their respective mistakes and were willing to follow the direction of the officers.

"Those who can show the completeness of the letter, we allow them to continue their journey. But with a note: everyone must be orderly, not careless, and only stop to raise or drop passengers in a short time," said Jenal.

In addition to administrative issues, the joint team also highlighted other violation practices that still often occur, such as random parking, underage angkot drivers, and vehicles that are no longer roadworthy.

According to Jenal, this kind of operation not only has an impact on aspects of law enforcement and regulation, but also provides a sense of security to the public as users of public transportation.

This operation is very effective. We not only control public transportation, but also convince passengers to feel safe. I make sure and emphasize this is effective," he said.

Furthermore, Jenal added that this operation is also closely related to the Bogor City Government's long-term policy in reducing the number of public transportation in the city. The fleet reduction program is one of the strategies to unravel congestion and encourage conversion to more modern and environmentally friendly public transportation.

Of the total 3,412 angkots, now it has decreased to 2,793 vehicles. This reduction is important to create more orderly and efficient city transportation," he said.

The Bogor City Government itself continues to coordinate with various parties, including transportation cooperatives, to ensure the process of updating the fleet and transformation of the transportation system goes according to plan.

Enforcement of administrative violations will continue to be carried out regularly as a form of commitment to the safety and comfort of road users.
