Freepik Launches AI Image Making Model Trained With Licensed Data

JAKARTA Freepik, a microstock platform, is exploring the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) like most design platforms. This technology is used to develop image-making AI models.

According to Freepik's statement, quoted from the TechCrunch report, this AI model has been available since April 29, 2025. The AI image maker called F Lite is available in two versions, namely the standard version and texture version. Both produce different photo types.

The standard version works like an AI image maker in general. The model will display images according to commands with easier-to-predict results. Meanwhile, texture versions produce textured images with a better composition.

Compared to the standard version, the texture version is even more prone to making mistakes. This means that users may get image results that do not match the prompt. Freepic doesn't say how often these errors occur.

F Lite was developed through a partnership with a startup company called Fal.ai. This AI image-making model was developed within two months using 64 NVIDIA H100 GPUs.

Although AI image-making tools are already available on many platforms, this tool still causes controversy over public doubts about its training materials. To avoid this controversy, Freepik revealed his training materials.

This tool is trained with 80 million images of internal pools that are claimed to be 'safe to use'. All of these images are commercial licensed images so Freepik and Fal.ai don't train F Lite by taking pictures from the internet or a common platform.

Thanks to the training with large data and sophisticated models, F Lite contains 10 billion parameters. Unfortunately, this tool is not easy to use. Users must ensure that their device model uses the 24GB VRAM GPU and above.
