TNI Commander Ready To Build Ormas Through Rindam, Response To Commission I DPR's Proposal

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto responded to Commission I of the DPR's proposal for the TNI to be involved in fostering community organizations (ormas) so that they could be more orderly. According to Agus, his party is open to providing this guidance so that mass organizations can increase their discipline.

"Yes, actually what I said earlier, fostered in the TNI is discipline, our youth must be disciplined and can use time effectively efficiently and well," Agus said in his statement.

Agus said his party has the Military Regional Command Main Regiment (Rindam) which can be used to cooperate with mass organizations in conducting education and character development and discipline.

Rindam is a military educational institution under the Indonesian Army's Kodiklat (in addition to Akmil, Seskoad, and Secapa) which has the main task of helping organize training and education for all ranks of the Kodam to produce soldiers who are professional, reliable, qualified and have strong militancy and are loved by the people.

"Yes, so actually the TNI has the randams that educate the NCO enlisted and then in Rindam there is an organizational structure within the country, a unit in the country, now this unit is in Rindam, usually companies or agencies in the region," said Agus.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR Dave Laksono asked the TNI to be involved in fostering mass organizations in Indonesia. According to Dave, the involvement of the TNI is important to increase the discipline of mass organizations in the midst of the widespread issue of mass organizations disturbing the industry in Indonesia.

"Now it's a bit rampant about how this mass organization disrupts industries in Indonesia, investments in Indonesia. Well, indeed this is the task, the main task is the Police, but there are a lot of these mass organizations, there are also those who collect, there are also those who may have historically founded by ABRI," said Dave.

Dave asked the TNI and the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) to pay attention to the phenomenon of mass organizations. According to him, the TNI can provide guidance to these organizations.

"This may also be a concern from the TNI and from the Ministry of Defense itself to provide more intense guidance to this mass organization," concluded Dave.
