SEZ Of Industropolis Batang Commemorating International Labor Day With Inauguration Of Human-Centred Facilities

JAKARTA - In the spirit of commemorating International Labor Day, the Special Economic Zone (KEK) of Industropolis Batang inaugurated a number of new facilities that favor the welfare of workers, especially women. The facilities include Daycare, Women's Workers Protection Room and Lactication Room, and An-Nahl Mosque. The three were inaugurated directly by the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi.

Also present at this inauguration were the Regent of Batang M. Faiz Kurniawan, the Head of the Central Java Provincial OPD, the Head of the BPJS Employment Office for the Central Java Region DIY, as well as representatives of Kadin, Apindo, tenants, and the Mother Foundation as partners managing daycare.

In the midst of boisterous criticism about workers' housing, SEZ Industropolis Batang answered with a real action: humanizing humans, not just building an area. Daycare in workers' flats is a symbol of attention to working mothers, so they can calm down, knowing their children are in a safe and warm place.

"We want workers' housing to be not only physically feasible, but also socially feasible. Flats are not just beds, but small family growth rooms for workers," said the President Director of SEZ Industropolis Batang, Ngurah Wirawan, in his statement, Thursday, May 1.

According to the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, International Labor Day is not just a reminder of workers' rights, but a momentum to show that the state comes with empathy, facilities, and side policies.

KEK Industropolis Batang today is not only talking about productivity, but also taking sides with human values. This is the new face of the industrial area that we hope for: inclusive, spiritual, and sustainable," he said.

This Daycare will be managed by the Mother Foundation as a form of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, as well as strengthening regional commitments to inclusiveness, family balance, and ESG principles.

The An-Nahl Mosque which was also inaugurated today adds to the spiritual dimension in the midst of industrial activity. With an area of 200 m2 and a capacity of up to 2,400 worshipers, this mosque is one of the largest in Batang Regency. Its name is taken from a letter in the Qur'an which means bees 'containing the philosophy of persistence, benefit, and harmony.

"We believe this area must live, not only pulsating the economy, but also spiritually and socially. So the An-Nahl Mosque was born not just a worship building, but a gathering house for workers," said the Regent of Batang, M. Faiz Kurniawan.

SEZ Industropolis Batang also presented a Women's Workers Protection Room and a Lactication Room for facilities that are still rare in Indonesian industrial areas. This is a form of recognition that female workers need a safe space and real support in carrying out their dual role as workers as well as mothers.

Currently, of the total 7,008 workers in the area, 3,730 of them are women. With this significant amount, the presence of women-friendly spaces is an urgent need as well as a tangible manifestation of the principles of equality and inclusion.
