Meet Hundreds Of Thousands Of Workers, Prabowo Attends May Day At Monas

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto attended the 2025 International Labor Day (May Day) commemoration at the Monas Cross Field, Jakarta, Thursday, May 1. This is to meet directly hundreds of thousands of workers from several trade union confederations in Indonesia.

Quoting Antara, the President arrived at the location at around 10:00 WIB, accompanied by ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

Upon arrival, the President immediately greeted one by one the workers who were in the front row of the main stage.

In the May Day 2025 commemoration at Monas, the President will address hundreds of thousands of workers.

"Mr. President immediately responded and God willing tomorrow he will be present tomorrow at the commemoration of International Labor Day," said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi after the gathering with the union at the parliament complex.

The Minister of State Secretary said that President Prabowo considers workers or laborers to be pillars of the economy so that the government, the private sector, industry, and all policy makers must cooperate with labor elements.

Based on an official statement from one of the trade unions, the Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPI), the workers carried out six demands in commemoration of Labor Day this year, namely asking the government to abolish the outsourced work system, forming a layoff task force.

Then, realizing decent wages, protecting workers by passing the new Employment Bill, protecting household workers through the ratification of the PPRT Bill, and eradicating corruption by ratifying the Asset Confiscation Bill.
