These Are The Two Steps Of The Ministry Of Industry To Accelerate Transformation Of Green Industries

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has prepared two moves to accelerate the transformation of the green industry in the midst of the global climate crisis.

Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza stated, in the industrial sector's net zero-emission roadmap (net zero-mission roadmap) roadmap, the Ministry of Industry targets to reduce emissions by 31 percent to 43 percent by 2030 and achieve NZE in the industrial sector in 2050.

"With the industrial sector's Net Zero Emission (NZE) roadmap, we are targeting to reduce emissions by 31 percent to 43 percent by 2030 and reach NZE in the industrial sector in 2050," said Faisol as quoted from his written statement, Thursday, May 1.

There are two moves to accelerate the transformation. First, by revising the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 98 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Carbon Economic Values (NEK).

Second, draw up regulations related to reducing industrial emissions that will be implemented at the location of the processing industry production facility.

Faisol said this rule would be enforced at the location of the processing industry production facility. According to him, the preparation of this rule is a real commitment in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

"This policy will regulate control of air pollutants emissions and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, set upper limits on greenhouse gas emissions, mandatory carbon trading mechanisms or industrial sector Emission Trading System (ETS) and mandatory carbon pricing," he said.

In order to realize support for the growth of an inclusive and sustainable industry, the Ministry of Industry held the 2025 National Green Industry Forum (FIH) in Bandung.

This year's FIH carries the theme "Encourage the Implementation of Green Industries in Indonesia". The focus of this event lies in accelerating the adoption of low-carbon technology, energy efficiency, implementing circular economic principles and strengthening the role of Small and Medium Industries (IKM) in the national green industry ecosystem.

It is hoped that activities such as FIH can become a routine agenda to measure progress and update joint strategies in facing the challenges of climate change and global market dynamics.
