Commemoration Of Labor Day At Monas, Police Alert Officers At Strategic Points

JAKARTA - The police together with the TNI and the regional government deployed 13,701 joint personnel to secure the commemoration of International Labor Day 2025 in the Jakarta National Monument (Monas) area.

"They, we are alert at strategic points based on potential vulnerabilities," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 1.

He emphasized that his party wanted to ensure that workers who celebrate International Labor Day still feel safe and served.

According to him, the commemoration of Labor Day at Monas was attended by President Prabowo Subianto and is expected to be attended by thousands of workers from various regions, including from Banten and West Java.

He said all security personnel had been alerted at strategic points based on potential vulnerabilities.

Although large-scale security was carried out, Susatyo emphasized that the humanist approach was their top priority.

"Our members do not carry firearms," he said.

All officers have been provided with directions to prioritize serving and a persuasive approach.

"We serve our brothers and sisters in a friendly, firm manner, but still prioritize communication so that this event runs smoothly and successfully," he said.

Susatyo said that in terms of traffic, his party did not impose any blocking. However, vehicle flow arrangements are still carried out in order to maintain the smooth mobility of residents.

In addition, the public is advised to avoid the Monas area and look for alternative routes to avoid congestion.

With full support from all parties, the police hope that Labor Day 2025 can run safely, orderly and conducively.
