2 Bogor Residents Arrested During Smuggling Of Methamphetamine At SIM Aceh Airport

BANDA ACEH - Two men from Bogor, West Java (West Java) were caught by Avsec officers at Sultan Iskandar Muda airport (SIM) Aceh Besar when they were about to smuggle 900 grams of methamphetamine through the local airport.

"The methamphetamine will be brought by the suspect through Aceh Besar SIM airport to Jakarta," said Banda Aceh Police Chief Kombes Joko Heri Purwono as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 30.

The two suspects arrested were AP (35) and DT (44), both from Bogor Regency, West Java. They were arrested for controlling, accepting, carrying and becoming intermediaries in the sale and purchase of methamphetamine.

The police chief explained that the arrests were made on Friday (25/4) at around 05.30 WIB when the Avsec officer at SIM airport carried out an inspection of the Batik Air passenger flight number ID 6899 with a scheduled departure at 06.30 WIb to Banda Aceh Jakarta.

"Then during the inspection of luggage, officers found four packs of 900 grams of methamphetamine in a pair of sandals used by the two suspects," he said.

Kombes Joko said the two suspects departed from Bogor to Aceh on Thursday (24/4) via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

After arriving in Banda Aceh, they continued their journey using the Travel Hiace car with the aim of going to Triengggadeng District, Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh to take the methamphetamine from someone with the initials J who is now a DPO.

Furthermore, the suspect received an order from another person with the initials K (DPO) to bring the methamphetamine from Aceh to Jakarta.

"If successful, the suspect AP is promised a salary of Rp. 7.5 million, while the suspect DT will be given Rp. 5 million," he said.

Based on the results of the examination, it turned out that the suspect AP had twice brought methamphetamine from Aceh to Jakarta, first in December 2024 with the same pattern, namely hiding in sandals. Meanwhile, DT is the first time.

"Then the DPO is still under investigation and pursuit of the Banda Aceh Police Narcotics Unit," said the Police Chief.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 112 Paragraph (2) Sub-Article 114 Paragraph (2) Sub-Article 115 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of death penalty, life imprisonment and or imprisonment for a minimum of six years, a maximum of 20 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 10 billion.

"The suspect has been detained and investigated with a notification letter for the start of the investigation to the Aceh Besar District Attorney number: SPDP/45/IV/RES.4.2./2025, dated April 28, 2025," said Kombes Pol Joko Heri Purwono.
