East Java Police Deploy 3,736 Joint Personnel To Secure Labor Day In Surabaya
SURABAYA - The East Java Regional Police deployed 3,736 joint personnel to secure the commemoration of International Labor Day or May Day 2025 which will take place in Surabaya, Thursday (1/5).
East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto said the thousands of personnel consisted of 3,221 Police personnel and 515 personnel from related agencies, which will be deployed at a number of vital points in the city of Surabaya.
"This provision of readiness is an important momentum to carry out final checks on the readiness of personnel and the completeness of infrastructure before carrying out security duties," said Inspector General Nanang while leading the security rally at the East Java Police Headquarters, Surabaya, Wednesday, April 30, as reported by ANTARA.
He said the May Day 2025 commemoration carried the national theme Merajut Togetherness for Improvement of Workers' Welfare and National Productivity with the tagline May Day is CollaborationDay,
It is estimated that around 11,470 people from various elements of labor unions and workers will take to the streets and hold actions in a number of locations, including the East Java Governor's Office, Grahadi State Building, and the East Java DPRD Office.
The Kapolda emphasized the importance of preparedness and professionalism of all personnel in dealing with potential vulnerabilities, such as traffic congestion due to convoys, friction between groups, acts of provocation, to potential anarchism and infiltration of anarchist groups.
"All personnel are expected to carry out their duties professionally, humanely, and according to procedures, and uphold the principles of legality, human rights, and justice," he said.
Inspector General Nanang also instructed seven main points in the implementation of security, including persuasive approaches, inter-institutional synergies, strengthening intelligence and early detection functions, and optimizing the command chain in the field.
He hopes that the entire series of May Day activities in the East Java region, especially Surabaya, can take place safely, orderly, and smoothly.
"I thank you for the dedication and readiness of all personnel. May Allah SWT always provide protection in carrying out the duties of serving the nation and state," said the Kapolda.
The East Java Regional Police ensured that coordination with the TNI, regional governments, and related agencies was carried out intensively in order to create a conducive security and social security situation during the May Day commemoration.
