Gold Price Increase Affects Copper Concentrate HPE

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) noted that the export benchmark price (HPE) for copper concentrate commodities (Cu ≥ 15 percent) has increased due to the increase in gold prices (Au) on the global market in the first period of May 2025.

Acting Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade Isy Karim said that the HPE for copper concentrate on May 1-14, 2025 was recorded at USD 4,410.96 per Wet Ton.

This value increased by 0.27 percent compared to the second period of April 2025, which had an average price of USD 4,378.58 per Wet Ton.

"The HPE for copper concentrate in the first period of May 2025 increased compared to the second period of April 2025. This increase was due to the increase in gold prices, although copper and silver prices generally still showed a downward trend during the data collection period," said Isy as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 30.

For comparison, the second period of April 2025 was USD 4,378.58 per WE.

This value increased by 0.06 percent compared to the first period of April 2025 which was recorded at 4,365.62 per WE.

Isy explained that the determination of the HPE for copper concentrate in the first period of May 2025 was based on written input from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) as a technical agency.

The ESDM Ministry's proposal is based on price data from the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) and the London Metal Exchange (LME).

"The HPE was determined after a coordination meeting between related agencies consisting of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of ESDM, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Industry," he added.
