SNPMB Committee Suspects Bimbel Institution Involved In UTBK 2025 Fraud

JAKARTA - The 2025 National Selection Committee for New Student Admissions (SNPMB) suspects the involvement of one of the tutoring institutions (Bimbel) in the fraud case that occurred in the implementation of the 2025 Computer-Based Writing Examination (UTBK).

The Chairperson of the SNPMB 2025 Committee, Eduart Wok, explained that there were thousands of participants who were considered anomalies, in which one of the bimbel institutions was suspected of being involved in this matter.

"(It is suspected) that there is involvement in one of the study coaching institutions in Yogyakarta that mobilizes participants," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 29.

He explained that the anomalous test participants were suspected, because the domicile, school origin, destination campus, and location of UTBK were all in areas that were far from each other.

He gave an example with participants who graduated from high school in Semarang, choosing destination campuses at the University of Indonesia (UI) and Gadjah Mada University (UGM), but carrying out UTBK in Medan.

"Is this wrong? It's not wrong, as long as it can be proven, it's not wrong. For example, in Gorontalo there is something like this. After we investigated it, it turned out that the person concerned graduated from the Islamic boarding school in Java. Then, indeed after graduating there was a year that was obliged to serve. Now he took that service in Gorontalo, taught in Gorontalo, so he registered in Gorontalo and the exam in Gorontalo even though his choice was in Java," he said.

However, his party found participants with similar anomaly data at other locations, where the participants were not present during the exam and coincidentally at the same time there was a problem with the computer that the participants should have used.

"There is involvement of networks that use UTBK for certain business purposes and so on. This is alleged, once again this is a suspicion, because that is not part of us to decide on that," he said.

Suspicion of one of these bimbel institutions, he said, was also strengthened by the existence of a bimbel institution that was still providing guidance until May 5, 2025, where UTBK was only held on April 23-3 May 2025.

"In fact, in the past, when we used to be bimbel, it was one week before the implementation of UTBK, it was finished," he said.

He also suspects that there are bimbel institutions that dare to provide 100 percent guarantees to pass the UTBK, because in the implementation of UTBK this time it emphasizes more the aspects of scolasticism or reasoning and basic understanding of students.

In overcoming this suspicion, his party is conducting further investigations in collaboration with the authorities to ascertain whether this case should be resolved with criminal penalties in order to provide a deterrent effect.

"All of this will not exist if the UTBK participants and the parents of the UTBK participants really feel that the UTBK SNBT test is a test that should be passed with honesty and integrity," said Eduart Wlok.
