Instead Of Talking About The Proposal For The Impeachment Of The Vice President Of Gubran, It Is Better To Focus On Development Affairs To Health

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR Abdullah responded to the discourse on impeaching Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, which has emerged recently.

He considered that it was not easy to take steps to remove or implement because there were many conditions that had to be met according to constitutional rules.

Abdullah said that the process of dismissing the President and Vice President could be carried out if [residents committed serious violations, such as betrayal of the state, corruption, and abuse of power

"It is not easy to overthrow the president or vice president. A number of steps must be taken," Abdullah said, Tuesday, April 29.

Article 7A of the 1945 Constitution states that the President and/or Vice President can be dismissed during their term of office by the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the suggestion of the House of Representatives (DPR), whether they are proven to have violated the law in the form of treason against the state, corruption, bribery, other serious crimes, or disgraceful acts.

Then Article 7B explains that the process of dismissing the president and/or vice president must be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Basic Law and other laws and regulations.

Abdullah explained that the DPR must first submit a proposal for dismissal to the MPR. Furthermore, the MPR conducts investigations and examinations. Then, the MPR held a trial to discuss the proposal for dismissal and hearing the president's statement.

"MPR can decide to dismiss the president or vice president if it is proven to have committed a serious violation both during his tenure and before taking office," he explained.

For example, Abdullah continued, it was proven that he had committed corruption or conspired in a corruption scandal such as South Korean President Park Geun-hye. Then it was proven that he had manipulated the presidential candidacy requirements document, such as forging a diploma, or like Lithuanian President Rolandas Paksas who was proven to have made fake documents by giving Lithuanian citizenship to a Russian businessman in exchange for payment of money.

Having been involved in a sexual harassment scandal as alleged by bill Clinton with Monica LAWinsky in 1995.

"In addition, a president or vice president can also be provoked because he is proven to spread hate speech, spreading hoaxes in maneuvers that threaten nationalism of the nation," Abdullah continued.

He also invited all parties, including political elites, community leaders, religious leaders, and the general public to focus more on supporting the development carried out by the government.

"Instead of being busy with the Impeachment of Vice President Gibran, it is better for us to focus on development in the fields of health, education, economy, social, and culture," Abdullah concluded.
