Golkar Party Holds Strategic Discussion: Measuring The Direction Of Indonesia's Geostrategy And Geopolitical Policy
JAKARTA - In an effort to respond to increasingly complex and risky global geopolitical dynamics, the Golkar Party held a strategic policy discussion entitled Arah Policy Geostrategy and Geopolitical Indonesia. This event will be held directly in the Hall of the Golkar Party DPP, Kemanggisan, West Jakarta, Thursday 8 May 2025. And will be enlivened by various groups, ranging from political figures, academics, to students.
This activity will be an important space to explore strategic ideas in the midst of an increasingly heated global situation due to rivalry between the world's great powers such as the United States, China, and Russia. This tension has an impact not only on the security and military aspects but also has a major influence on global economic stability and diplomatic relations between countries. As a country located on the strategic path of the Indo-Pacific, Indonesia has a very important position as well as is vulnerable to this dynamics.
In the discussion, it was scheduled to be present as a resource person for Lodewijk F. Paulus as Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, professor of political science from UIN Jakarta and Nurul Arifin as Member of Commission I of the DPR RI. The three of them explained their views from the perspectives of government, parliament and academics on how Indonesia should formulate sovereign, adaptive, and national interests.
One of the main issues that will be discussed is Indonesia's diplomatic strategy, which is known as an equidistance diplomacy approach, namely an active neutral attitude in maintaining relations with all major world powers without being trapped in block politics. This strategy is believed to be a realistic choice for Indonesia to maintain stability and achieve diplomatic and economic benefits amid global tensions.

As a follow-up to this discussion, all the results of the discussion will be summarized in the form of a policy briefing designed as strategic input for national policymakers. The Golkar Party emphasized that this activity was not just a discussion forum, but was part of a real commitment to strengthen Indonesia's position in the midst of changing world order that continues to grow.
