WhatsApp Web Will Present Voice And Video Call Features

JAKARTA The web version of WhatsApp will get new features needed by most users. Meta's messaging platform will get voice and video calling options on the web.

This is a very useful feature because so far, WhatsApp will only display notifications when a voice call or video comes in. Users cannot answer their calls directly on the web so they need to search for a cellphone.

This action is not efficient so WhatsApp brings its features to the web version. The ability to receive voice and video calls has only been seen in the WhatsApp Web beta update for desktop and its features are still in the development stage.

Unlike the mobile app that displays the drop-down call menu in the upper right corner, users will see two calling icons in private and group chat rooms. The first icon is for video calls while the second icon is for voice calls.

With this capability, users no longer need to download the WhatsApp desktop application on Windows or macOS devices. The reason is, so far, laptop users can only receive voice and video calls by having the original application.

When this feature is rolled out to WhatsApp web, users can make WhatsApp calls in any browser, either Chrome, Safari, Edge, or other compatible browsers. This is the fastest way to keep interacting while users are in the office or outside the home.

Keep in mind that this feature is still in the development stage so it is not yet known how the details and appearance of voice and video calling features on WhatsApp web. Most likely, this feature will be finalized in the next update.

The feature development can run slower in order to provide a smooth experience, equivalent to features in mobile apps. Users may receive the option of switching between video calls while voice calls are in progress.
