Indriyanto Seno Adji Emphasizes The Supervisory Board Not To Take The Life Of The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)

JAKARTA - New member of the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Indriyanto Seno Adji, emphasized that death was not the death of the KPK. Indriyanto emphasized that the supervisory board was formed to strengthen the system, which still had major weaknesses in technical operations.

"The supervisory board should not be considered as the death of the KPK," said Indriyanto at the ACLC building, Jalan Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Thursday, April 29.

Indriyanto shared his experience as an expert when the process of revising the KPK Law was rolling. At that time, Indriyanto also discussed the formation of a supervisory board before it was finally passed through the Corruption Eradication Commission Law Number 19 of 2019.

"My first question at that time was to the team informally, I said that if you come the goal is to eliminate the main tasks and functions of the KPK, I will not give an opinion," he said.

"But, if the purpose of the revision of the KPK Law is to strengthen or build KPK performance, go ahead," added Indriyanto.

From this discussion, it was then agreed to place an internal supervisory board. This is because supervisory institutions that are outside of the institutional structure or external supervisors, in general, are practiced as an institution that takes life itself.

"It is universal, so I say it is better that the council is inside," he said.

As previously reported, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Professor of Criminal Law from the University of Indonesia, Indriyanto Seno Adji as a member of the KPK Supervisory Board. Indriyanto was appointed to replace Artidjo Alkostar, who died from illness on February 28.

The inauguration was held at the State Palace on Wednesday, April 28 at around 15.30 WIB. This event continued to follow strict health protocols and was attended by limited invitations, one of which was the Chairman of the KPK Supervisory Board, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean.

"By Allah I swear, solemnly that I am to carry out this task directly or indirectly, by using any name or method I do not give or promise anything to anyone," he said while reading his oath of office as posted on YouTube. Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday, April 28.

"I swear that I am to do or not do something in this task, never to receive directly or indirectly from anyone a promise or gift," he added.
