Galaxy Watch 8 Brings Back "Classic" Variant, Bezel Play Feature Ready For Comeback
JAKARTA - Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy Watch 8 series in the next few weeks, and good news comes for classic smartwatch fans. The "Classic" variant, which was absent in the previous generation, is now confirmed to be back through official certification from Bluetooth SIG revealing commercial names and model numbers Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (SM-L505U).
The Galaxy Watch 7 series last year was only present in two variants: the standard (vanilla) model and Ultra version, with the presence of the Classic variant known for its iconic turn bezel feature. Samsung has never revealed the reasons for the absence of the Classic model in the previous generation, but this year it seems that loyal fans of the feature can breathe a sigh of relief.
The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic will certainly bring back bezel play as one of its main distinguishing features. This is the answer to user complaints that are less satisfied with "touch bezel" control on the Galaxy Watch 7, which is deemed less intuitive than physical control with rotating bezels.
Although Bluetooth SIG certification does not reveal many technical specifications other than connectivity, its presence indicates the official launch is imminent expected at this year's second Samsung Unpacked event which will be held in July.

Meanwhile, a leak of certification for the standard Galaxy Watch 8 model states that the battery capacity is 435mAh, slightly larger than the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic which has a 425mAh battery. There is no definite information regarding the battery capacity of the Classic variant this year.
The models that have been identified include:
Galaxy Watch 8 (standard): SM-L320, SM-L325U, SM-L330, and SM-L335U
Galaxy Watch 8 Classic: SM-L500 And SM-L505U
It is not yet known whether Samsung will also continue the Ultra variant, but it is estimated that information related to the model will appear in the near future.
The return of the Galaxy Watch Classic is clearly a breath of fresh air for users who prefer the design and traditional mechanical navigation based on mechanical bezels. If this leak is true, the Galaxy Watch 8 could be one of the most anticipated smartwatch series this year.
