GWM Develops V8 Giant Pickup Trucks To Challenge Ford, Ram, And Chevrolet
JAKARTA Great Wall Motor (GWM) is increasingly showing its seriousness in presenting tough vehicles, both to bulldoze city streets and heavy off-road terrain. In order to continue this reputation, this automotive manufacturer from China is preparing to launch a large-powered full-size pickup, which will be equipped with a 4.0 liter V8 engine.
President of GWM Global for the right steering market, James Yang, revealed that this latest pickup will have a much larger dimension than the current models.
"The current V8 engine is suitable for the SUV. However, for pickup, the size is likely to be much larger than what we have produced," said James Yang, quoted from Drive, Monday, April 28.

Currently, GWM's biggest pickup model is Cannon Alpha, which is also an internal test vehicle for their V8 engine. If this new project gets the green light, GWM will take advantage of the latest 4.0 liter V8 engine to be introduced at the Shanghai 2025 Auto Event. This machine will be combined with plug-in hybrid technology, making it more environmentally friendly.
With this ambitious move, GWM will become one of the automakers from China, alongside BYD, which is publicly ready to challenge the dominance of major US pickup truck brands with specifications that are no less than US manufacturers from Ram, Ford, to Chevrolet.
