Maxim Welcomes The Government's Proposal To Include Ojol In The MSME Category
JAKARTA - Application-based transportation service company Maxim Indonesia welcomes and respects the government's proposal to include online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) partners in the category of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"We respect every effort of the government to support the contribution of online transportation drivers in the national economy," said PR Specialist Maxim Indonesia Yuan Ifdal Khoir in a written statement, quoted by Antara, Monday, April 28.
Yuan assessed that the discourse to include online transportation driver partners in the MSME category was a step that should be considered and studied further.
"Especially, if this can open access to coaching to support better business development facilities ranging from incentives to subsidies for partners," he said.
Furthermore, Yuan said it was important for relevant stakeholders, especially the government, to ensure that every policy could really help driver-partners, and still respect aspects of flexibility and independence.
"In the initiative to strengthen support for this MSME classification scheme, it offers an alternative that is inclusive, strategic, and in line with the spirit of digital transformation, but must be managed in a clear position and coordination between all stakeholders," said Yuan.
"A balanced policy approach, involving input from various stakeholders, is very important to ensure prosperity without sacrificing innovation, access to the online transportation ecosystem," he added.
Previously, MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman submitted a proposal for ojol driver partners to be included in the MSME category.

In addition, online motorcycle taxi drivers will also receive programs to increase their capacity and training for human resources similar to those that have been given to MSMEs.
Maman said the plan to include ojol in the MSME category is currently still in the internal study stage of the Ministry of MSMEs. Discussions on the revision of the MSME Law will be submitted next year.
