Radiohead Prepares Kid A And Amnesiac Album Celebration
JAKARTA - Radiohead is making plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the album Kid A and Amnesiac. This news was conveyed by Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien to NME on Wednesday, April 15.
When asked about the current activities of Radiohead members, O'Brien said they are still focused on their respective solo careers. But of course, they don't forget about the band's business by utilizing the video call facility as a way of communicating.
“We have meetings online - we use Zoom. We talk about a lot of things, but all of them are having their own busy life, "said Brien.
The existence of the COVID-19 pandemic or the corona virus has hampered several plans. But more than that, Radiohead also thought about what to do in the midst of this outbreak.
“How can you feel good about the album that was released 20 years ago? I can not. I am grateful for that moment and know that (the album) means a lot to many people, but it has been going on for a long time, ”said O'Brien when asked about Radiohead's album celebrations.
Kid A and Amnesiac are the fourth and fifth albums that Radiohead released in 2000 and 2001. Kid A, which contains a mix of jazz and beats, was named the best album by Rolling Stone. Radiohead also managed to break into the American charts because this album also made them the first British band to achieve this milestone after the Spice Girls.
O'Brien continued, Radiohead was very flexible about the band's activities so they would go back to music together if they felt like doing it. So there is no compulsion or pressure to play music, let alone release an album.
Celebrating Radiohead's album has become one of the things that fans always look forward to. In 2017, OK Computer was re-released in celebration of the album's 20th anniversary. For Radiohead, serving fans is not just about celebrating album releases. There is plenty of ammunition at their disposal to continue to please sympathizers.
Recently, Radiohead has uploaded their old materials on the internet several times. After releasing the entire album content on the YouTube channel, this British band launched the Public Library, a website where all material in the form of writings, documentaries, souvenirs, and stage performances can be accessed for free via radiohead.com
The latest from Radiohead, an archive video of their performance was released exclusively through the YouTube channel for the next week since last April 10.
