Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi: Returning To Ahmad Yani Airport Status Will Provide Ease Of Investment

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi said the return of international status at Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang would have a positive impact on the economic growth of this province and national levels.

"The international status is so strategic for Central Java which will make investment easier and increase foreign tourist visits," said the governor in Semarang, quoted by Antara, Sunday, April 27.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation again designated Ahmad Yani Airport as an international airport starting April 25, 2025 through Decree Number 26 of 2025.

According to him, efforts to restore the international status of Semarang Airport have been carried out repeatedly through sending a letter of application to the Ministry of Transportation.

The last application letter was submitted on April 8, 2025, he said, before being responded by the Minister of Transportation.

In addition to the Ministry of Transportation, coordination also continues to be carried out with the Semarang branch of Airnav.

According to him, communication with airlines to serve international flights has also been carried out, especially for the purpose of Malaysia and Singapore

"The existence of this international airport is expected to be a leverage for the welfare of the people of Central Java," he said.
