Political Negotiations Still Ongoing Are Considered To Be The Cause Of The Implemented PDIP Congress

JAKARTA Professor of Political Science at Pasundan University (Unpas) Bandung, Muradi believes that the political negotiations between Megawati Soekarnoputri and President Prabowo Subianto that have not been completed have caused the implementation of the PDI-P's VI Congress (PDIP) to delay from its original schedule, April 2025.

"The political cooperation negotiation process between PDIP and Gerindra is still ongoing. Their statement (PDIP) about outside or joining the government is still mined," he said, Sunday, April 27, 2025.

According to him, another reason that the congress had not yet been held was that PDIP was still disturbed by the Hasto Kristiyanto case. Therefore, Megawati is said to be still waiting for the clarity of the Hasto case and not forcing the congress to be held in April.

In addition, Muradi continued, PDIP internally still feels that there is a threat from outside or external parties that has the potential to divide the party. Moreover, the alleged criminalization cases against PDIP elites are still ongoing.

"There are elements who then try to then divide the party through these various mechanisms. The mechanism that drives the process is not internal solid," he added.

Muradi predicts that Hasto Kristiyanto will be released in May or June 2025 if he is only charged as the party that obstructs Harun Masiku's investigation. However, the PDIP Secretary General's sentence could be longer if proven to have accepted bribes.

"When Hasto is free, it is possible that the PDIP congress can only be held, because it was the congress that Hasto designed it. Hasto's detention was a tough blow to PDIP," he concluded.
