BMKG: Most Of Indonesia Will Rain With Variational Intensity Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most parts of Indonesia will experience rainy weather with varying intensity on Sundays, ranging from light rain, moderate rain, to rain accompanied by lightning.

BMKG forecaster Eriska in the weather forecast video monitored through the BMKG YouTube channel in Jakarta, Sunday, April 27, said that light rain is predicted to flush a number of major cities on the island of Sumatra, such as Banda Aceh, Aceh; Medan, North Sumatra.

"There are also Pekanbaru, Riau; Padang, West Sumatra; Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands; Jambi; Bengkulu; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; and Bandar Lampung, Lampung," he said, as reported by Antara.

Meanwhile, on the island of Java, light rain has the potential to occur in Jakarta; Semarang, Central Java; and Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Similar conditions are also predicted to occur in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan; Samarinda, East Kalimantan; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Palu, Central Sulawesi; Gorontalo, Gorontalo; Ternate, North Maluku; Manokwari, West Papua; Nabire, Central Papua; and Jayapura, Papua.

In addition, rain with moderate intensity is predicted to hit Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan; Mamuju, West Sulawesi; Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi; and Sorong, Southwest Papua.

BMKG also warned of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in several areas, such as Manado, North Sulawesi; Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains; and Merauke, South Papua.

Outside the rainy area, several areas are predicted to experience cloudy to thick cloudy conditions. Thick clouds are expected to occur in Palembang, South Sumatra; Serang, Banten; Bandung, West Java; Denpasar, Bali; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; Pontianak, West Kalimantan; and Makassar, South Sulawesi.

Meanwhile, Surabaya, East Java, is predicted to experience running air conditions. BMKG then appealed to the public to remain alert to the potential for extreme weather and update the latest weather information through the BMKG Info application, the official website www.bmkg.go.id, and social media accounts @info.bmkg.

"The weather information we convey is an overview. For more specific and updated information every three hours, the public can access the official BMKG website or the BMKG Info application," said Erika.
