Used To Be Migrant Workers, Now Become The Boss Of MSMEs! Minister Karding: This Is An Example That President Prabowo Wants!
JAKARTA - Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, gave high appreciation for Eliza Hafni Nasution's dry cake business, a retired migrant worker from Binjai, North Sumatra. The praise was conveyed during a direct visit to Eliza's MSME location on Saturday 26 April.
"Alhamdulillah, this can penetrate the market everywhere with a good packaging model," said Minister Karding, as stated in a press release from the Ministry of P2MI in Jakarta.
Eliza Hafni Nasution previously worked as an Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) in Malaysia. After returning to the country, she took advantage of her experience and savings to build a dry cake business that is now starting to penetrate various domestic markets. The success of this Eliza, according to Minister Karding, is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's hopes that migrant workers returning to Indonesia will be able to be economically independent and even create new jobs.
"Model like this is important for all migrant workers. Indeed, what President Prabowo hopes is like this," said Karding. "They go abroad looking for knowledge, have skills, save, have money, return, then build a business. At least now they can hire several people," he continued.
On this occasion, Minister Karding also promised that KemenP2MI would assist and foster Eliza's business so that it could continue to grow. Starting from access to capital, financial management training, to marketing strategies will be provided intensively.

"We are fostered starting from how to do business, then access to capital, financial management, to marketing of products, we will support all of them," he said.
Minister Karding also opened opportunities for cooperation with various parties to help develop small businesses such as Eliza's. He hopes that various needs to develop future businesses can be facilitated better through synergies between the government and the private sector.
"Hopefully we can help with the needs of distribution and marketing channels in the future," said Karding closing his statement.
This visit is one form of the government's real commitment in empowering retired migrant workers to be able to contribute to the national economy, as well as being an inspiration for other migrant workers.
