Minister Of Agriculture: Chicken Prices Will Return To Normal In A Week

JAKARTA - The price of live birds at the farmer level has decreased significantly.

Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman ensured that the price of live chickens at the farmer level would return to normal within the next week throughout Indonesia.

Amran has asked the Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (PKH) of the Ministry of Agriculture Agung Suganda to continue to monitor the price of chickens at the farmer and market level every day so that conditions will stabilize immediately.

"We have asked the Director General of PKH (Animal Medicine and Health), almost every day. We monitor it, there has already started to rise," said the Minister of Agriculture when met on the sidelines of the National Coordination Meeting with 37 thousand Agricultural Extensioners which was carried out in a hybrid manner in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, April 26.

According to Amran, the latest report shows signs of rising chicken prices, and related parties have promised to normalize the maximum price within the next week.

He emphasized that if in one week the price is not yet normal, he will directly intervene to overcome the problem with the ranks in the field.

"We promise that one week it will return to normal. If one week is not normal, I will intervene," said the Minister of Agriculture.

He also reminded that small breeders should not be allowed to fight alone and asked all relevant directors at the Ministry of Agriculture to actively help farmers.

"Yes, that's the promise of both parties. We ask that small farmers not to be left alone. I ask the Director General, the Director to intervene," he said.

According to him, the condition of the decline in chicken prices was due to high production, so one of the long-term solutions was to expand the export market for national poultry products.

"Yes, our production is high. Therefore, the solution is export. Yesterday's eggs have started to several countries. There are 40 containers, if I'm not mistaken, they will be reported for export. Maybe they have been exported," said the Minister of Agriculture.

Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture encouraged the feed industry and poultry supply chain players to absorb livebird from people's breeders to maintain business sustainability and stabilize the price of chickens at the producer level.

"This step is important to maintain the sustainability of poultry farming businesses as well as stabilize the price of chickens at the producer level," said Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture Agung Suganda at the Pakan Support Coordination Meeting on Livebird Price Stabilization as confirmed in Jakarta, Friday (25/4).

According to Agung, efforts to stabilize livebird prices require cross-sectoral mutual cooperation, especially from feed companies, non-cultural feed factories and feed raw material traders.

Meanwhile, based on data from the National Food Agency Price Panel as reported in Jakarta, Saturday (26/4) at 20.30 WIB, the average price of broiler chickens living at the farmer level reached IDR 19,565 per kg, up from the previous day IDR 19,212 per kg.
