JAKARTA - Various information are currently very easily accessible to the development of the internet. However, there is also a lot of false information or hoaxes circulating, including health.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs in Indonesia (KOMDIGI) found that out of a total of 1,923 hoax content detected throughout 2024, around 163 of them were health-related misinformation. This situation is increasingly concerning considering that a survey by the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) found 27.79 percent of Indonesians accessing news or information about health on the internet.

Misinformation about health is very worrying because it can have a bad impact if misinformation is done by the public for their health. One of them that is very dangerous is misinformation regarding eye health.

Therefore, accurate information about eye health is needed, as launched by JEC Eye Hospitals and Clinics, namely Matapedia, the first digital eye health encyclopedia in Indonesia.
