BPBD Records 85 Damaged Houses As A Result Of Land Movement At Cianjur Performance

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has dispatched a team to collect data and handle emergency ground movements in Bunijaya Village, Pagelaran District, Cianjur Regency, West Java. 85 houses were damaged and a number of residents were displaced in the area.

Cianjur BPBD Chief Executive Asep Kusmanawijaya said emergency handling was carried out by joint officers to anticipate unwanted things, including evacuating residents whose houses were damaged to safe places.

"The movement of land hit three villages in Bunijaya Village, Panlaran District, as a result, 85 houses were damaged and a number of residents were displaced, for sure the displaced residents were still waiting for the officers' data collection," he said in Cianjur Friday, April 25, which was confiscated by Antara.

However, his party asked officers to carry out emergency handling by setting up tents or looking for locations for residents to temporarily evacuate, especially when it rained heavily in the evening or evening.

"We are still waiting for reports from officers in the field for definite data and the needs of residents that must be met for handling, including the logistics needed," he said.

Secretary of Bunijaya Village Rahmat, said that the movement of land hit three villages, namely Simpang, Pogor, and Lebak Muncang Villages, had occurred since the last few days, but on Thursday night the movement of the land spread rapidly, even at some points it collapsed.

The movement of the soil caused 85 houses to be damaged with damage mostly to the cracked walls, floors, and foundations of the house that were tilted because the soil collapsed quite deeply.

"It was recorded that five families fled, for fear that their houses would collapse due to the widening of the ground and deepening. Meanwhile, of the 85 heads of families chose to stay in their respective homes even though they were damaged," he said.

However, his party appealed to residents to evacuate immediately when it rained heavily which caused ground movement to continue to expand and deepen. This is done as an effort to anticipate unwanted things.

Not only destroying residential areas, the movement of land makes the main road access connecting the three villages collapsed so that four-wheeled vehicles cannot be passed, so the village is looking for alternative routes so that the three villages are not isolated.
