Here's Pearl, A Futuristic Concept Car By Former Maestro Rolls-Royce

The automotive industry was again shocked by the breakthrough from Roewe, a brand under the auspices of the automotive giant SAIC Motor.

Roewe has just launched the concept of a luxury electric car called "Pearl". The main attraction of this car is not only the futuristic design, but also the creative touch of Josef Kaba totaling, the former Head of Design at Rolls-Royce!

Launching CarNewsChina, Friday, April 25, this step is somewhat surprising considering that Roewe has been known for its focus on the entry-level and medium-sized car segment. The presence of Kaba totaling, an automotive design veteran who has a flashy experience at the Volkswagen, Audi, and has even been responsible for the iconic exterior of Bugatti Veyron, since joining SAIC Motor in April 2024, clearly brings fresh air to the brand. His move to SAIC came after suddenly leaving his position in Rolls-Royce in 2019 after only six months in office, without further explanation.

The concept of "Pearl" itself features a luxurious electric sedan design with several subtile similarities to the newly released Rolls-Royce Ghost and Jaguar Type 00. Its exterior Fasad is stunning with frameless suicide-style doors, electronic mirrors, and a futuristic overall design. Pillars A and D are made as if hidden, and gold line accents adorn the windows' surroundings, adding to the elegant impression. The front of the car is decorated with a thick LED line extending horizontally, with Roewe logo turning on it. The design of the rearlight is also aligned with its front look, creating a powerful visual identity.

Looking at the interior, "Pearl" offers a spacious cabin with four seats that provides a spacious space for legs, especially for passengers in the back row. The unique oval-shaped steering circle dominates the dashboard, accompanied by a large central control screen. The comfort of the rear passengers is growing with the presence of a folding table.

Roewe himself stated that this "Pearl" design style will become a new design language for their vehicles in the future. Media in China even joked that consumers will soon be able to buy the "Rolls-Royce people version" at a price of around 100,000 yuan (around Rp. 231 million), which is the average price range for Roewe's current car.

The presence of the concept of "Pearl" is clearly an indication of SAIC Motor's big ambition through the Roewe brand to penetrate the luxury electric car market. With a magical touch from a world-class designer, it is not impossible that Roewe will become a new player to take into account in this segment.
