Kawasaki Hydrogen Motorcycle Unjuk Perolehan Ahead Of The 24 Hours Of Le Mans Race

JAKARTA - A motorcycle brand from Japan, Kawasaki showed off the HySE concept at the Bugatti Circuit, Le Mans, France before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race some time ago.

The HySE concept is a hydrogen-powered hyperbike-style motorcycle which is the result of the development of Kawasaki in the Hydrogen Small Mobility & Engine Technology Association.

Launching from MotorcycleNews, Friday, April 25, this association is a consortium consisting of large automotive companies such as Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Toyota, and others exploring hydrogen as a potential source of fuel.

On this occasion, Kawasaki HySE was tested for its ability by rounding one round on the 4.1 km long circuit with damp track conditions.

Our research on hydrogen power well illustrates Kawasaki's principles that not only embrace new technologies but also apply practical applications to these technologies, said Kawasaki HySE driver Matthias Hoeppner.

The development of this motorcycle began in 2023 with trials carried out a year later.

The chassis has been designed to accommodate additional hydrogen cylinders, with fuel sources that require much larger space than conventional gasoline when stored.

This motorbike made its public debut in mid-June last year in Japan by utilizing a 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of up to 998 cc supercharged taken from Kawasaki H2.

The machine is designed to match the hydrogen fuel stored in a large pannier tube at the back of the engine.

The presence of the motorbike is a manufacturer's commitment in developing environmentally friendly motorcycles and is committed to developing hydrogen ICE machines for its production model in the early 2030s.
