Film Review Sah... Katanya!: Situational Comedy Lifts Mayit's Marriage Phenomenon

JAKARTA - The phenomenon of Mayit marriage that occurred in Indonesia was made the main offering in Loeloe Hendra's latest film entitled Sah... He said! In collaboration with Sidharta Tata, this film presents a long comedy story that has not been presented in Indonesian cinema.

This film is played by Nadya Arina, Dimas Anggara, Calvin Jeremy, M. N. Qomarudin, Rahmet Ababil, Della Dartyan, Landung Simatupang and many others.

Sah... Katanya! tells the story of Mar (Nadya Arina), the youngest who takes care of his father and mother in Jogjakarta while his married brothers go on a career and live far from home. Mar lives a normal life with his girlfriend, Adi (Calvin Jeremy).

One day, Mar's family mourns when their father (Landung Simatupang) dies. Before he died, it turned out that his father gave a will to Mar which was given to Pakde Kusno (Susilo Nugroho).

The will contained Mar's request to marry Marmo (Dimas Anggara), the son of his father's good friend in front of the body. Mar was confused because he and Adi were still saving to build their business.

On the other hand, Marmo is already on his way to Mar's house while Mar has to make a decision. Will Mar accept Marmo's proposal and fulfill his father's will?

Loeloe Hendra, who usually works on arthouse or independent genre films, tries his luck with comedy drama films whose results are quite satisfying. The comedy elements in this film really liven up the storytelling thanks to the scripts and characters of the cast.

Nadya Arina as the main character, although she does not have a large portion of comedy, is able to balance it with the drama side that she has to control. Several bits of comedy began to roll with Susilo Nugroho, Calvin Jeremy, Rafa Juliano Alfarizqi and many others, only that the situational comedy was the most highlighted by Calvin Jeremy, whose character often experienced "duginess".

The phenomenon of Mayit's marriage, which is the core, has only appeared in the middle. The main character's confusion to choose is also an interesting premise with sufficient execution.

The development of the story is also neatly sewn up so that the audience does not have a distance from the character. We all understand the purpose of character presence and what he does in this film.

It's just that, towards the end, the portion of the comedy is starting to decrease and is dominated by elements of the drama, especially when the twist is presented into the film feels forced as if there are characters that must be black-and-white. The moment of disclosure seems to make our main character the protagonist.

Apart from that moment, the film Sah... Katanya! produces a satisfying comedy element, builds laughter and keeps the audience waiting for it to continue.

Sah film... Katanya! bisa dilihat di bioskop mulai Kamis, 24 April.
