Islamic Boarding School Grant Funds Removed, Dedi Mulyadi Highlights Political Access And Bodong Foundation
West Java (Jabar) Governor Dedi Mulyadi said the abolition of the West Java Province grant funds for Islamic boarding schools in the 2025 fiscal year was to fix the management of grants.
"This is our effort to fix the management of grant management, so that this grant does not fall to the Islamic boarding school," said West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi as quoted in Bandung, Antara, Thursday, April 24.
Then, said Dedi, it is hoped that grants will not fall only to institutions or foundations that have political access, such as to the DPRD or governor.
"Therefore, I have had a meeting with the Ministry of Religion throughout West Java. In the future we will direct the distribution of a sense of justice. We will start to focus on building madrasasah, tsanawiyah-tsanawiyah, which they no longer have access to power and to politics," he said.
Met at Pakuan State Building, Bandung, Wednesday night, Dedi said the consideration of granting funds later was considerations for needs and technicalities, such as the construction of educational facilities and infrastructure under the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).
"So it is not a political consideration, because so far the aids that have been distributed to educational foundations under the Ministry of Religion have always been considered politically," he said.
This, said Dedi, is to improve the mechanism system, it is also known that many fraudulent foundations receive assistance, even with a value of between Rp. 2 billion to Rp. 50 billion per foundation.
"So this is part of our audit to immediately make improvements. Because this is for religious education foundations, the process must also be religious," he said.
Previously, the West Java Provincial Government had shaved the plan to disburse grants to a number of Islamic boarding schools in the 2025 APBD shift, where there were more than 370 institutions planned to receive grants, listed in the Facilities and Spiritual Infrastructure Management Sub-Management.
The institutions finally canceled receiving a grant due to a budget shift policy, and the remaining only two institutions, namely the West Java Tilawatil Qur'an Development Institute (LPTQ) with a value of Rp. 9 billion and the Mathlaul Anwar Ciaruteun Udik Foundation in Bogor Regency worth Rp. 250 million.
In addition to grants to Islamic boarding schools that were abolished, grant disbursement is still flowing to a number of institutions.
The grant disbursement was recorded in the Pergub document Number 12 of 2025 concerning the Spread of the 2025 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD), including West Java PMI with a value of IDR 1.8 billion, even though it had been cut from the previous plan of IDR 2.1 billion.
Then the West Java Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) Rp 3.4 billion, West Java KNPI DPD Rp2 billion from the previous plan of Rp5.5 billion and West Java NPCI Rp10 billion from the previous Rp12.1 billion.
