Annoyed Coming Home In The Morning When Filming Gundik Makes It Easy For Luna Maya To Investigate Her Role

JAKARTA Luna Maya has again shown her expertise in acting through her latest film titled Gundik. Luna shared experiences as well as challenges while playing the character Nyai, a mysterious and dark figure in the film's story.

"The method keeps getting worse, he's a bit nervous, it's because of the shooting situation, so actually the frustrations really help, go home early in the morning, it's precisely what I'm worried about if you have too much fun on the set. It's difficult (to enter the character)," said Luna at the release of the official poster and trailer which was held in Jatinegara, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, April 23.

Nyai's character is not an ordinary character. He is described as a person who has no empathy for human suffering, and even seems to enjoy the suffering of others. This is certainly a big challenge for Luna who is used to playing characters with a more 'normal' humane feel.

"Because this is not the type of character that (lives). But sometimes when you see something that people want to die, it's the rest, it's the opposite, that's why the world is different from us," he said.

Luna also added that Nyai's role is very complex because it is between the two worlds: the world of man and the invisible world.

"The difficulty is that Nyai is a human being, yes but not, a stealth, yes but not. So it's true that people who live in 2 worlds that I never find people like that so they don't have references to people or people who live in the world of irreversibility or something that's so dark for him to kill sometimes like in the world of play, he laughs, he's happy like that," explained Luna.

Nyai's character, who cannot be directly associated with ordinary human experiences, makes Luna have to really rely on imagination in shaping her character.

"Meanwhile, Luna or a human being in general, if I know I interact, nothing has ever been that dark," he continued.

"So indeed, we seem to shape an carving of a person with his character with imagination and that's what I think is quite difficult (to play this character)," he concluded.

Apart from Luna Maya, Gundik's film involves Maxime Bouttier, Agus Kuncoro, Arif Didu, Rukman Rosadi to Dian Sidik. It is planned that this film will start showing in theaters on 22 May.
