Pandemic COVID-19, Daily Nominal Wages Of National Farmers In March Raised 0.15 Percent

JAKARTA - Nominal wages of workers or workers are the average daily wages received by workers as remuneration for work that has been done. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that the nominal daily wages of national farm workers in March 2020 increased by 0.15 percent compared to the wages of agricultural workers in February 2020, from IDR 55,173.00 to IDR 55,254.00 per day.

Meanwhile, the real wage for agricultural labor is the ratio between the nominal wage of agricultural laborers and the rural household consumption index. If the nominal wage for national agricultural laborers increases, the real wage for agricultural workers will decrease by 0.04 percent.

Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Suhariyanto said this increase was due to a slight increase in inflation.

"Real wages of laborers or workers illustrate the purchasing power of the income or wages received by workers or workers," he said, through a live broadcast on the BPS youtube account, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 15.

In addition, said Suhariyanto, BPS also noted that the daily nominal wages of construction workers (non-foreman) in March 2020 increased by 0.05 percent compared to February 2020 wages, from IDR 89,621.00 to IDR 89,666.00 per day. The real wages of construction workers are the ratio of the nominal wages of construction workers to the urban consumer price index.

However, said Suhariyanto, real wages for construction workers decreased by 0.05 percent. Even so, the average nominal wage for female haircut workers per head in March 2020 compared to February 2020 increased by 0.09 percent, from IDR 28,522.00 to IDR 28,547.00.

Real wages in March 2020 compared to February 2020 decreased by 0.01 percent, from IDR 27,262.00 to IDR 27,261.00. The average nominal wage for household assistants per month in March 2020 compared to February 2020 did not change, namely Rp419,739.00.

"Real wages in March 2020 compared to February 2020 decreased by 0.10 percent, from Rp. 401,203.00 to Rp. 400,820.00," he said.
