RI-Denmark Continue Cooperation In Energy EBT And Conservation

JAKARTA - The governments of Indonesia and Denmark continue to cooperate in the new renewable energy sector (EBT) and energy conservation through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The signing of the MoU was carried out by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia with Danish Foreign Minister Lars L wayokke Rasmussen at the Office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Monday, April 21.

In his remarks, Bahlil said, the signing of the MoU was an allowance for cooperation that had been carried out 10 years ago.

"We really appreciate that for approximately 10 years the Government of Indonesia and Denmark has done many things in cooperation, especially energy development and more specifically new and renewable energy," Bahlil said in his remarks, Monday, April 21.

Bahlil said, in the midst of an uncertain geopolitical situation, countries like Indonesia need to find the right country to be used as a 'friend' and build cooperation that can benefit two parties. He considered Denmark to be the right 'friend' for Indonesia to cooperate in the energy hubau sector.

Furthermore, Bahlil said, to carry out the commitment contained in the Paris Agreement which emphasized the reduction in emissions, based on the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, Bahlil said he had signed a decision to retire early on the Cirebon-1 Steam Power Plant (PLTU).

"So we will be happy to make quick adjustments by using renewable energy," he continued.

With the early retirement of PLTU, the government is also committed to accelerating the development of new and renewable energy, one of which is cooperating with Denmark, which has experience and technology in the field of EBT, especially wind.

"They have technology, have a long experience and now they have one technology to reduce efficiency in energy consumption and other things, I think there are many things in this MoU," said Bahlil.
