Nintendo Keeps Switch 2 Prices In The US Despite Being Affected By Donald Trump's Import Tariffs

JAKARTA The Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for a realist on June 5, eight years after the first version is released. Unfortunately, the long-awaited launch will face the US trade war.

For eight years, the Japanese video game company managed to sell 150 million original Switch units. Seeing the high enthusiasm of fans in various parts of the world, Nintendo has high hopes for the launch of the next-generation Switch.

Although many are looking forward to this console game, Nintendo is predicted to have difficulty selling Switch 2 because of the import rates announced by the US some time ago. The reason is, Nintendo still maintains its market price even though the company is affected.

"If the (maintained) tariff really hits them, they may need to raise the price of Switch 2," said Consultant Founder Kantan Games Serkan Toto, quoted by Reuters on Monday, April 21.

Nintendo Keeps Switch 2 Prices

The Japanese company has revealed the price of Switch 2 on April 2, coinciding with US President Donald Trump announcing the latest import rates. Shortly after Trump's announcement, Nintendo suspended the pre-order Switch 2 period.

In a short time, Nintendo reviewed the impact of the latest import rate on the price of Switch 2. Of course, the device became one of the products affected by Trump's tariff increase, but Nintendo decided to keep the price.

Switch 2 is priced at 449.99 UScurrencies (Rp7.5 million) and pre-orders of its devices will reopen on April 24. To overcome unmaximized revenue, Nintendo chose to increase the price of accessories from Switch 2.

"(Other adjustments) may be made in the future, depending on market conditions," Nintendo said in a statement. This means that the price of Nintendo Switch 2 could increase at any time.
