Eruption Strikes In East Flores, Mount Lewotobi Vomits 3 Km High Smoke
LABUAN BAJO - Officer of the Lewotobi Men's Volcano Observation Post (PPGA) noted that Mount Lewotobi Male in East Flores Regency (Flotim), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) experienced two eruptions on Sunday, April 20, the observation period from 18.00 to 24.00 WITA.
"Two eruptions were observed with a height of 3,000 meters and gray smoke," said PPGA Gunung Lewotobi Male officer Herman Yosef Mboro in a written report quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 20 evening.
He said the two eruptions were recorded on a seismogram with an amplitude of 14.8 to 47.3 mm and a duration of 100 seconds to 125 seconds.
"The eruption accompanied by a strong bang was heard at the PGA Lewotobi Male Post," he said.
He explained that five gusts occurred with an amplitude of 2.9 to 7.4 mm and a duration of 51 seconds to 101 seconds.
It was also recorded that one distant tectonic earthquake with an amplitude of 7.4 mm, a S-P of 70.6 seconds with a duration of 122 seconds.
The weather around Mount Lewotobi Male in the observation period was sunny and cloudy. The wind is blowing weakly to the north and northeastern. The air temperature is 21 to 23 degrees Celsius.
Currently, the volcanic activity of Mount Lewotobi Male is at Level III (Alert) status so that people and visitors are advised not to carry out any activities within a six-kilometer radius of the eruption center.
The public is also advised to calm down and follow the directions of the local government and not to believe in issues whose sources are unclear.
