The Story Of Omara Esteghlal Political Research To Social Issues For 'Strengthening In Bukit Duri'

JAKARTA - Omara Esteghlal is one of the main characters in Joko Anwar's latest film, Punting in Bukit Duri. He admitted that he did a lot of research to explore his character, Jefri.

To VOI, Omara explained that he needed data to find out the background of the story which was the reason for his character to carry out various actions.

Research occurs a lot, not only discussions with directors, peer casts but we also research that requires empirical data from psychology. There is a lot of news going on, we even learn political theory, teaching systems are the approaches, not just playing movies but works of art that study it with science too," Omara Esteghlal told VOI some time ago.

He was assisted by many sheet characters, a character paper created by Joko Anwar for his players to get to know his background. In addition, he also got a framework that supports his research about Jefri.

I do an understanding where we often misunderstand but the idea of someone wanting to be a super human is often misunderstood by society. (Jefri) did it because he had to. The idea of point of no return is what makes him do based on what he wants," he said.

The suspension in Bukit Duri tells the story of Edwin (played by Morgan Oey), a teacher who faces children at his new school including Jefri who is indifferent to the teacher's orders. According to Omara, the story in this film is very relevant to the current educational situation.

"We often accept what is a dilapidated situation and when we do something wrong, the tendency is to blame society but we are also part of it. We are taught to criticize, respect something that is not worthy of respect," he said again.

"We need to make this film now and I think I will regret it for life (if we don't take this film)," continued Omara Esteghlal.
