Minister Of Trade Budi Concerning Coconut Prices Soars: Because It Is Exported

JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso revealed that the cause of the sharp increase in domestic coconut prices. He said this happened because many business actors exported.

According to Budi, the disparity in the price of coconut exports at domestic prices has triggered business actors to prefer to export. Moreover, currently, the export price of coconut is increasing.

Because of this condition, continued Budi, domestic supplies are running low. As a result, the price of these commodities has increased.

"Yes, this is expensive because it is exported. The export price is indeed higher than the domestic price. So that because all exports, eventually become scarce in the country," he said at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta, Thursday, April 17.

Budi admitted that he would gather farmers, business actors or exporters to find a midpoint related to the soaring price of coconut in the country.

Furthermore, Budi said that the price of coconut should not be too low because farmers and exporters can lose money. On the other hand, domestic needs must also be met.

"Let's have a better opportunity later. Because we also need it domestically, but the price is of course also if it's cheap, farmers, exporters don't want it. So later we will look for a better agreement," he explained.

For your information, citing Jakarta Food Information Thursday, April 17, the price of kupas coconut in the DKI Jakarta area ranges from Rp. 13,667 to Rp. 17,500 per kilogram (kg).

The area with the most expensive prices is West Jakarta and East Jakarta. Where in West Jakarta it is priced at IDR 17,500 per kg today and yesterday. Likewise in East Jakarta, the price of kupas coconut is priced at IDR 17,500 per kg. However, this price has decreased by IDR 100 from yesterday's price.

Then, in South Jakarta, the price of kupas coconut is priced at Rp. 16,400 per kg. This price has been stable since yesterday, meaning that there has not been an increase or a decrease in prices.

Compared to South Jakarta, the price of kupas coconut in Central Jakarta is cheaper, which is IDR 15,600 per kg. There is no difference in price from yesterday.

The price of kupas coconut in the cheapest DKI Jakarta administration area is in North Jakarta. The price of this commodity was priced at Rp. 13,667 per kg, a decrease in the price of Rp. 333 when compared to yesterday.
