Marco Simone's Suggestion This Could Be AC Milan's Solution

JAKARTA - AC Milan is still seriously ill. Even though they signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the winter transfer window, they have not been able to break into the Champions League zone. Now the competition is suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic or the corona virus. What steps should Milan take in the future?

According to one of the former Milan players, Marco Simone, the Rossoneri must recruit Mauro Icardi from city rivals Inter Milan to make their attack line even more frightening.

Icardi was left out of use by Inter after Antonio Conte took over from Luciano Spaletti ahead of the 2019-20 season. He prefers Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to partner Lautaro Martinez.

The winner of two Capocannoniere (top scorer) Serie A titles, Icardi was then loaned to Paris Saint-Germain. There he was able to coup Edinson Cavani's club's top goalscorer from the starting line-up scoring 20 goals in 31 appearances.

Milan may be too quick to judge the abilities of its strikers, but patience has its limits. Simone feels that Cavani or former Inter captain Icardi can provide a solution to the problem that will be even more complicated if Zlatan Ibrahimovic's contract is not extended at the end of this season.

The Rossoneri occupy seventh place in Serie A and are among the top 10 clubs to have scored the fewest goals as the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"I will keep (Rafael) Leao. He has strength and talent. Otherwise, if you always see the flaws in those who have talent, you have to start from scratch all the time," Simone, who won four Scudetti and two Champions Leagues with Milan. told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I will not give up on (Krzysztof) Piatek. If Ibra leaves, Milan will only have a few options for strikers.

"I think (Napoli striker Arkadiusz) Milik will do his job (up front) well, but I will try to bring Cavani and Icardi to Milan.

"Mauro (Icardi) will be a good signing and in an ideal situation," he said.
