Garuda Clarification Regarding Technical Constraints On GA 288 Flight Jakarta Route Tanjung Pinang

JAKARTA - In connection with the Tire dedication incident on Garuda Indonesia aircraft with flight number GA-288 on the Jakarta route Tanjung Pinang, which uses a Boeing 737-800 fleet of PK-GUD registrations, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Garuda Indonesia said that the incident occurred after the plane landed normally at Raja Haji Fisabilillah Tanjung Pinang Airport.
According to Garuda Indonesia Operations Director, Capt. Tumpal M. Hutapea, all 161 passengers and crew were in a safe condition and the flight took place according to procedures until the landing process was complete. The preparedness of the flight crew who were on duty in handling these conditions took part in ensuring that the landing process was carried out safely and under control.
Tumpal M. Hutapea confirmed that all pre-flight checks had been carried out thoroughly by the competent technical team, in accordance with applicable flight manual standards and safety.
Shortly after the landing, further inspections were carried out by a technical team of Garuda Indonesia coordinating with the relevant aviation authorities. The results of the examination showed that the incident of the release of one of the tires after the plane landed did not cause further disruption to the aircraft system as a whole.
Tire components that experience problems have been replaced with new parts according to operatingworthiness standards. The aircraft has also gone through a series of additional safety tests and inspections before being declared airworthy. The aircraft has now returned to operation and landed normally at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
