Many Articles And Need Synchronization, RKUHAP Hasn't Been A Priority Of The DPR

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives will hold a plenary meeting for the opening of the Trial Period III at the Nusantara II Building Parliament Complex, today. Even though it has ended the recess period, the Indonesian House of Representatives will not immediately discuss the draft law or revision of the new Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP).

"This (discuss RKUHAP) is indeed not in a hurry. This is the agenda, I happen to be in Commission III, I see that the agenda is still listening to all inputs. Yesterday there was also a hearing meeting outside the trial period, right. That's also listening to opinions from the whole community," said Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Adies Kadir at the DPR Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, April 17.

"So I don't think I'm in a hurry," continued the member of Commission III.

Adies explained that Commission III of the DPR will still receive input from various parties including legal experts and civil society. According to him, the revision of the Criminal Procedure Code must be in line with the new Criminal Code which has been ratified.

"Indeed, for this, we really listen to everything. Moreover, this is an procedural law rather than we are a criminal law law. So the law of the event is criminal, it must really be in sync with the criminal law that was just passed," explained Adies.

"Then it is also in accordance with the legal principles in our country, based on the principles of Pancasila. Then it is also in accordance with cultural customs and so on. Indonesia has various cultural customs, from Sabang to Merauke, Bhineka Tunggal Ika, and all of them must also be listened to," continued the Golkar politician.

Adies said the discussion of the RKUHAP was different from the discussion of the TNI Bill which had drawn criticism. Adies denied that the TNI Bill was discussed in a closed and non-transparent manner. According to him, all bills will be discussed openly, it's just that this RKUHAP has more articles to be discussed so that it will take a longer time.

"So I think we'll see what it will be like tomorrow. If the Criminal Procedure Code is also a friend, the nuances are also not in a hurry. Moreover, there are many articles. The difference is with the TNI, yesterday the article was only three crucial. Three or four if I'm not mistaken. It's only related to age, related to the additions of how the TNI is active, what are all kinds. There are only three articles. If this is not a lot. It might not be that fast," said Adies.

"I don't think it will take too long but also won't be in a hurry. Yes, we will see it in the current period. If it's too fast, it will be thought out later," said Adies.
