KemenP2MI Lirik Slovakia Becomes New Destination For Placement Of Indonesian Migrant Workers
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister (Wamen) for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Christina Aryani said Slovenia is a country that has the potential to provide more placements for Indonesian migrant workers.
Based on data from the Indonesian Embassy in Bratislava, nearly 900 Indonesian migrant workers worked in the manufacturing and automotive industry sector in Slovakia from 2022 to 2025.
"It is still small, but based on initial mapping, the placement in Slovakia has the potential to be worked on, considering that there are more than 12,000 requests for Indonesian migrant workers there today," Christina said during an online discussion regarding the Opportunities for Placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers in Slovakia, Wednesday, April 16.
According to him, there has been a trend of increasing the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in Slovakia since 2021. In addition, Indonesia has become one of 4 countries whose workers are in demand in Slovakia, apart from Vietnam, the Philippines and India.
In the discussion with the Indonesian Embassy, Bratislava, the Deputy Minister of P2MI also conveyed that the opportunity for a government to government (g to g) scheme is the ideal option for Slovakia. The reason is that this scheme is very safe, especially for the protection of Indonesian migrant workers.
"Slovakia can be an alternative placement destination that needs to be taken seriously, especially for the manufacturing industry with the target of young people who always want to develop," he explained.

"The point is we see this as one of the opportunities and we will be able to realize it (for placement) this year," continued Christina.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Ambassador to Slovakia, Pribadi Sutiono said, the potential placement of Indonesian migrant workers reached 12,883 people in 2025. This is based on the job order needed in Slovakia with a minimum salary of 900 euros.
It was explained that although Slovakia is a new area in 2022, the number of Indonesian migrant workers working in Slovakia to date has increased to 800 percent.
The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of English language skills to be able to enter and work in Slovakia.
"English is our challenge at this time. Many Indonesian migrant workers who have come here (Slovakia) must be tested again in English. Some end up failing, because they do not master the term industry in English," said Ambassador Sutiono.
The Slovak government, he continued, had no problem with the various schemes offered by the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of P2MI. In fact, the Indonesian Embassy in Bratislava is approaching the Slovak Ministry of Manpower regarding work visas for Indonesian migrant workers.
"What is important for them (the Slovak government) is that we (Indonesia) can fulfill their demands in terms of labor skills and the amount," said Sutiono.
