President Jokowi Inaugurated Bahlil Lahadalia As Minister Of Investment And Nadiem Makarim Minister Of Education And Culture-Research And Technology
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has inaugurated Bahlil Lahadalia and Nadiem Makarim. Both were sworn in at the State Palace.
Bahlil, who previously served as Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), was appointed as Minister of Investment. Meanwhile, Nadiem served as Minister of Education, Culture-Research and Technology.
The inauguration was held around 15.00 WIB. Judging from the Presidential Secretariat YouTube broadcast, this implementation still applies strict health protocols.
The inauguration was preceded by singing the song 'Indonesia Raya'. Then the Presidential Decree was readout regarding the appointment of Bahlil as Minister of Investment and Nadiem as Minister of Education and Culture-Research and Technology.
Furthermore, President Jokowi guided the reading of the oath of office carried out by the two of them.
"Before I take the oath, regarding your appointment as Minister of the Forward Indonesia Cabinet in the remaining term of office for the 2019-2024 period, I will first ask you, are you Muslim?", Jokowi asked before taking the oath as shown on YouTube of the Presidential Secretariat.
"Islam, sir", both replied.
"Will you be sworn in in Islam?"
"Yes, I will, sir".
Furthermore, the two ministers followed and read the oath of office read by President Jokowi.
"By Allah, I swear that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out the laws and regulations strictly for the sake of my devotion to the nation and state. That I, in carrying out my duties and positions, will uphold the highest ethics of office, work as well as possible, with a full sense of responsibility", said Jokowi while reading the oath of office followed by Bahlil and Nadiem.
In addition to inaugurating the two men, Jokowi also installed the Head of National Research and Innovation Agency, Laksana Tri Handoko. This inauguration took place after Bahlil and Nadiem read their oaths of office.
It is known, the House of Representatives previously submitted a letter of approval for the merger of the Ministry of Education and Culture with the Ministry of Research and Technology, as well as the formation of the Ministry of Investment to the government.
