Hippindo Boss Suggests This To The Government To Increase Foreign Exchange
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Retailer & Tenants Association (Hippindo) Budihardjo Iduansjah said that producing luxury brand goods or luxury brands in Indonesia is one way to increase foreign exchange.
Budihardjo said that currently many world luxury goods brands have produced or established factories in the country.
According to him, this brings considerable income when exported to other countries.
"Increasing foreign exchange, you don't have to downstream. Downstreaming, right, the image is minerals. The shoes produced by Indonesia, like Nike, only one container value goes up, you know. Right, overseas people pay Rp. 2 million, even though the production cost is for example only Rp. 50,000," said Budihardjo when met by reporters after the Indonesia Investment Summit by the Asian Trade Tourism and Economics Council (ATTEC) in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 15.
According to Budihardjo, Indonesia can open opportunities for many well-known world brands to open factories in Indonesia.
He considered, this would be very profitable in terms of investment.
In addition, said Budihardjo, the government also needs to strengthen local brands so that they can be sold at high prices abroad.
"That's why we say that the government must strengthen local brands. That's why Hippindo has the Indonesia Brand Go Global program. So, the government must invest, increase Indonesian brands to become famous. Because they make them cheap, but once they use Nike (brands) it's expensive Rp. 3-4 million. That's it, right, brand value," he said.

He said, currently Indonesia is an attractive country for foreign investors.
The Indonesian economy is considered stable enough, so it has its own magnet.
"Because he (the investor) sees Indonesia stable, right. So, he will bring it and many (invest) have entered now like plastic seeds, making bags. There have been many factories," he concluded.
