Careful App Protect For Apple's IOS Version

JAKARTA - The government-owned COVID-19 monitoring application PeduliLindung can now be downloaded by iOS users on the App Store. This means that people who have iPhone or Android devices can use the PeduliL Protect application on their respective devices.

"The public has been able to install (the PeduliLindung application) either through the Play Store or the App Store," said the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate in his official statement, Tuesday, April 14.

In appearance, the PeduliL Protect application is not much different from the Android version introduced by Kominfo at the end of March. PT Telkom Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk, is still the developer of this application for its iOS version.

"This decision serves as the basis for the implementation of tracing, tracking and fencing through telecommunication infrastructure, systems and applications to support Health Surveillance to complement the previous Minister of Communication and Information Decree, namely KM No.159 of 2020," explained Minister Johnny.

Thus, this application is intended to protect its users from possible transmission from corona positive patients, both in the ODP (People Under Monitoring) and PDP (Patients Under Supervision), including people who do not show symptoms of COVID-19.

The PeduliLindung application received a good response from iPhone users or other Apple devices. It is quite impressive that the iOS version of this application is rated 4.8 out of 5 on the App Store and is included in the Top Chart Medical Apps category.

"With the live on the App Store, people who use smartphones like the iPhone can also install. The more they install, the more massive we break the chain of COVID-19," Johnny concluded.

Regarding the security of personal data, Minister Johnny also guaranteed that this was protected by law for those who use the PeduliLindung application. Moreover, this application is not only specifically for people who fall into the category of supervision, but also the general public.

Broadly speaking, this application does not take up a large enough capacity, around 27.5 MB of used cellphone memory. When it is installed, you will be prompted to fill in your full name along with an active cellphone number, then this application will send an SMS OTP for verification.

After the phone number is verified, you are asked to activate Bluetooth and Service Location, this is useful so that Kominfo can trace, track and fencing yourself. No need to worry about running out of cellphone battery power, because the PeduliL Protect application will ask you to turn on Power Saving mode, meaning you can save power while using this application.
