Pamekasan Prison Officers Thwart Methamphetamine Smuggling In Tennis Balls

PAMEKASAN - Officers at the Class IIA Narcotics Correctional Institution (Lapas) Pamekasan, East Java, thwarted an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine into the prison using tennis balls.

"It happened on Sunday, April 13, 2025," said Head of Narcotics Prison Class IIA Pamekasan Fathorrosi as reported by ANTARA, Monday, April 14.

The smuggling of methamphetamine-type drugs occurred when officers named Ferik Kurniawan were monitoring the wholesale workers who were cleaning grass in the inner area of the Narcotics Prison, namely on the west side of the south.

At that time, Kurniawan saw a suspicious tennis ball at the location, because it was in a sharp condition.

"This Kurniawan then took the tennis ball and checked the ball," he said.

It turned out that inside the tennis ball there were 1.39 grams of methamphetamine.

"The officer, Ferik Kurniawan, immediately reported the findings to the leadership, and the tennis ball was immediately secured for further examination," he said.

The fathorrosi suspected that the methamphetamine was deliberately smuggled to be circulated in prisons.

"We suspect that the items were thrown from outside the fence by the public and do not yet know who this will be aimed at," he said.

Currently, continued the Fathor, his party is still trying to conduct an examination of a number of parties and check the surveillance camera footage at the Class IIA Pamekasan Narcotics Prison.
